Predictors of therapeutic response in schizophrenia – preliminary results

چکیده
Introduction Schizophrenia is a heterogenous disease and there wide variation in the therapeutic response patients, with some being good responders others - severely disabled defined as treatment resistant. Objectives To identify specific socio-demographic clinical characteristics prognostic factors for search of course prognosis outcome. Methods The study has naturalistic, non-interventional design includes one-year prospective follow-up. Schizophrenic patients are evaluated three time points – at admission (T1), by discharge (T2), one year after hospitalization (T3). Psychopathology Positive Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), well negative symptoms Assessment Symptoms (SANS), aggression Modified Overt Aggression (MOAS) functioning GlobalAssessment Functioning (GAF). Statistical analyses performed using Descriptive methods, Student’s t-test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, multiple regression. An ethical approval been obtained. Results sample consists 108 mean age 39 (SD±12.7) 89.8 % (N=97) them were prospectively assessed year. All symptom dimensions 5 -factor model positive, negative, disorganized, manic, depressive, measured PANSS, (objectified SANS) MOAS) significantly lower inpatient treatment. There an improvement (z=-8.01, p<.001), although both (z=-2,45, p=0.015) aggressive behavior (z=-4.260, p<.001) higher discharge. From regression, T1, involuntary significant predictor (p<.001). duration longer compliance (p=.022) atypical antipsychotics decreases hospital stay (p=.021). One admission, employment serves positive predictive factor it psychopathology (p=.001), (p<.001), improves Good (p=.015), less Conclusions efficacious terms psychopathology, linked to better functioning. naturalistic shows depletion effects probably due incomplete medication compliance, which bad This implies need continuous psychosocial services psychoeducation Disclosure Interest None Declared

Clinical predictors of therapeutic response to antipsychotics in schizophrenia
The search for clinical outcome predictors for schizophrenia is as old as the field of psychiatry. However, despite a wealth of large, longitudinal studies into prognostic factors, only very few clinically useful outcome predictors have been identified. The goal of future treatment is to either affect modifiable risk factors, or use nonmodifiable factors to parse patients into therapeutically m...
متن کاملA Twin Study in Schizophrenia: Preliminary Relaxometry Results
Introduction Previous studies suggested that susceptibility to schizophrenia is based at least to some extent on genes [1]. However, evolution of the disease is believed to depend on interaction between the genetic factors and physical, psychological and psychosocial factors, which have not been completely described yet [2]. To distinguish between the morphologic and metabolic changes in the br...
متن کاملEarly Antipsychotic Response Predictors in Schizophrenia: A Naturalistic Study
Schizophrenia is a complex psychiatric disorder affecting approximately 1% of the population worldwide [1]. Overall, it reduces the individual lifespan by on average of 15–20 years [2]. Schizophrenia is characterized by a heterogeneous outcome, with a smaller proportion (20–50%) of patients experiencing recovery or significant improvement, compared to a majority of them with a course characteri...
متن کاملHepatitis C: a critical analysis of therapeutic response predictors.
Treatment of chronic hepatitis C is still unspecific. However, there is great expectancy concerning the new pegylated interferons. As there has been much controversy about the best parameters to determine whether treatment is effective, we analyzed several criteria currently used for evaluation, including serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normalization, viral load reduction and improvement o...
متن کاملPredictors of success of the ablative/therapeutic radioiodine (131I) in differentiated thyroid cancer
Introduction:Differentiatedthyroid carcinoma (DTC) constitute approximately 90% of all thyroid tumors with an overall excellent prognosis. However, there is a small group of patients with a more aggressive form of disease, usually associated with certain poor prognostic factors. Using our large database of patients with DTC, the current study aims at identifying some of these f...
